History Presentation–Tuesday, April 20, 6:30 p.m.

Join us Tuesday, April 20, as Elena Díaz Björkquist talks about the lives of Mexican miners and their families. Here’s a description from the Arizona Humanities Council site:

This talk and slide show presentation traces the lives of Mexican Americans who worked in the early underground copper mines of Morenci and those of their families who lived in a mining camp that became a company owned town. Díaz Björkquist examines their social, political, and cultural experiences to explain how they met the everyday challenges of living in a different environment without giving up their family values, language, or traditions.

This program has been made possible through the generous support of the Arizona Humanities Council.
